Last Day of WED 463

Last day of WED 463 initiated the class with a Wiskispace  exercise, the exercise was planned in the handout portion on the right hand side of our wiki online classroom discussion setting.
The exercise consisted of: review the objective and determine if the way how it was formatted match the written assessment. There were indications such as verbs that lead to the matching. We also used the Asynchronous and synchronous learning techniques, Asynchronous (not real time), synchronous (real time), we looked at the difference among the two and the pros and cons of using this type of learning.
On our last day of class we had a lot of reconsidering involved, touching on the Levels of Evaluations again, Criterion Reference and Normal (Bell Curve) Reference. We also touched on the five levels of Evaluation, in the review; the main question was.  What does the levels mean?
The five levels were listed and discussed in class. These levels are:
1. Reaction:        Participant feelings about a program
2. Learning:         Changes in knowledge, skills, and attitudes
3. Transfer:         Changes in on-the-job behavior (application)
4. Impact:            Changes in business of an organization
5. Return on Investment (ROI):                 Compares program benefits to the costs.

The class ended with 90 second summary of WED463, there were a lot of countless perception from each student and the echo portion of class showed how much everyone learned and gave each student an idea of what the other took away from the development of the course. I learned a lot more on formative evaluation, using web 2.0 tools such as Skype, and Wiki.
This is not the end yet we still have another project pending to be submitted on Monday 6th at 8am, this will conclude the final part of the class.
I really enjoy it, although it was somewhat challenging being expose and compel to employ those tools that I never have used before.

Also Doctor Ackerman advise the class members about the new program for graduate studies program being newly introduce to SIU for the near future, the program is named Master of Arts in Instructional Technology (MAIT)

The program consist of:
Instructional technology deals with the improvement of human learning and performance with the aid of technologies. The theoretical foundations of learning, instructional design, and ethical practice support the development and educational use of software applications, multimedia, network configurations and web-based technologies

WED 463

First weekend class WED 463
Today the class started with an introduction to WED 463, Assessment of Learner Performance.  We began the class by re-arranging the room so class members would face the professor.  We concluded a personal goal setting with image exercise and each class member debated their specific goals.  We were presented to the three main WEB 2.0 tools and other websites that we will be using during class.  The WEB 2.0 tools we will be using are   Skype, wikispace, and Blogger.  We brushed up the course syllabus in-depth and then a class member Mr. Plemons used his portable computer to demonstrate the class the tools with creating and editing a blog.  Group assignment was distributed to all class members for the rest of the weekend.

E-Learning weekend

E-learning weekend

It was an e-learning weekend, to be honest, I would preferred to be in class, there was a lot work involved , an important assignment was due rather soon and everyone was waiting for our assignment for evaluation purposes It was a bit frustrating weekend.
Everyone in class was using the Skype  system.
At the same time we were evaluating other groups, their work presentation and research was outstanding, and caused a bit of insecurity , hoping our project would be as good as well
As the day developed, each group posted their WebQuest and each class member reviewed each WebQuest, took their quiz, and posted a review for the designers
To be honest with everyone in class I discovered that Skype was the main tool of the class during e-learning weekends and Dr. Ackerman anticipates each class member to log on and play a part in conversations.  This was good because it did permit us the freedom to be at your home (or any location of your choosing) and still be a part of the class.

Once posting our WQ, we were so relieved, there was a lot of pressure during the process,  then went into the wikispace and reviewed everyone else's WebQuest.  There were very interesting  WQ's and a lot of well researched  information to be noticed

There was not a text book assigned for this class, instead we will employed the usage of Web 2.0 tools as: Blogger, Face book, Wiki space, and etc.
This incorporation of mindfulness strategies within adult learning programs may go some way towards re-connecting the cognitive and affective dimensions of education.
